Quick comments about the first day of SAPHIRE. Some of us probably followed from www.sapphirenow.com but let me load up my personal notes.
DAY 1
First of all some useful assets that I found around.
Highlights From Press Conference
Co-CEO Bill McDermott,
Co-CEO Jim Snabe
CTO Vishal Sikka
-99th day of the CO-CEO model in place for SAP management.
Bill: SAP wants to double addressable market.
Bill: Sybase expensive Procurement? No. Sybase will bring value in Public Sector, Telco, Banking. Also our know-how in NewDB will be shared and made available to Sybase. In-memory from Sybase+SAP is the winning formula.
Vishal: Is this a move for Oracle’s DB infrastructure? We do not prefer a vendor lock-in. We are collaborating with multiple vendors namely IBM, HP, INTEL, and memory producers. It is not putting the old stacks into one machine but building something new with partners.
Vishal: What about Predictive Analytics? We will be supporting an open eco-system.
Sybase will be supported for the business suite in future.
Jim: Streamwork the facebook for the Enterprise.
On demand ByDesign will be generally available in July. In-memory and mobile applications will be generally available in the same time. From day 1 . This is brand new. Success will be in number of customers not in percent of revenue on this product. Jim did not give any target for the number of customers.
SAP Netweaver will remain as strategic.
Real time analytics will be the source of cost reduction. Layers and layers of technology will be removed. We will create innovation without disruption.
From Algor: If you want to go quick go alone, if you want to go far be a group.
Political will is a renewable resource.
From the Key Notes.
DAY 2
Bill: we will make every customer a best run company.
Jim: SAP – Networked solutions
With Sybase aqusition we will be Number 1 in BI, Mobile, and business apps.
CRM on-demand new version will be ready for late 2010.
Technology stack will change. With our ecosystem we will innovate new solutions. No vendor lock-in.
SAP Products Strategy. Discussion. Most of it was about customer examples. Birmighan city council is a good example of local goverment functions in the private cloud.
Press Conference about Emerging Countries sample project. Micro busines On-demand mobile solutions – Disparching and job cards management from SAP and Vodafone in South Africa. Interesting example of joint service in the cloud.
An other interesting meeting had been done btw Advanco Dr Olgun Yenersoy, Ceren Moral, Kerem Ozdemir and Erol Nalçacı From Sanofi-Aventis Zentiva.
Here is his note page 🙂
Press Meeting:
Ceren Moral, Kerem Ozdemir and Dr Dr Orestis Terzidis.
Dr Terzidis talked about Soknos, Origianl1, collaboration @ Rural projects. They are all very interesting. Please use the links over the projects to investigate details.
Duran Duran Concert at second night. All the team was too tired to enjoy 🙁
